Redirected from D&D

D&D is the longest running, most popular major tabletop roleplaying system out there. It has been through several different incarnations since its inception in 1974, essentially branching in 1977 into the more streamlined 'BECMI' (Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immortal) rendition [5 editions by 1991] and 'Advanced D&D' [1st ed. until 1989, 2nd until 2000]. Wizards of the Coast bought the game and gave it a major rewrite/facelift and a 3rd edition release in 2000, as well as a 3.5 revision in 2003.

The current version of the rules was released in 2008 as "Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition" (which does not use the d20 system) and its content was not released under the Open Gaming License.
