Much like Nethack, Ancient Domains of Mystery is an ASCII-based Roguelike game in which the player makes his or her way through a fantasy world, fighting monsters and running quests.
ADOM differs from Nethack in that it was developed entirely by one man, rather than assembled piecemeal by hundreds of developers over a period of several years. As such, it has a much more coherent storyline and mythos than its open-source kin.
